MyWhoosh at UAE Tour

Here at MyWhoosh, it is no secret we love cycling. We could not wait for the race of the UCI World Tour, with the added bonus that it was taking place in our backyard, the UAE. The Tour was raced on many of the roads and passed many landmarks that you will see on MyWhoosh.

The seven-day stage race began on Sunday, February 20, and ran until Saturday, February 26 with a mix of flat stages for the sprinters, an individual time trial and a couple of mountain stages for the general classification riders. As ever, crosswinds, and consequent echelons, were highly probable – if not inevitable.

Last year saw double Tour de France champion Tadej Pogačar taking the overall title, as he managed to hold off the challenge of Ineos’ Adam Yates, much to the delight of his team sponsors.
This year, Pogačar was set to start his season once again at UAE Tour and with that, take the top step once again.

The route totals 1,058km – and the multi-faceted terrain has, as ever, attracted the world’s best sprinters and climbers to the UAE. That is helped in no small part by the race offering the first UCI World Tour points of the season.

The seven individual routes cater to both the sprinters of the peloton as well as the climbers. The first three stages proved just that, and it would not be until the fourth stage when UAE Team rider Tadej Pogačar could claim his first win in the mountains of Jebel Jais. With that also securing the overall classification for the rest of the tour. Keep your eyes out for a full behind the scenes video coming soon! For now, here are some images to hold you over.
