MyShift – MyWhoosh’s Virtual Shifting Explained
By Zach Nehr
Virtual shifting has been one of the most popular requests at MyWhoosh for years. Now it is finally here with the all-new MyShift. Included in the recent 4.0 release, MyShift allows all users to access virtual gear shifting in the MyWhoosh app.
In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the all-new MyShift.
What is MyShift?
- MyShift is the all-new virtual shifting feature in the MyWhoosh app.
- Virtual shifting can be disabled at any time, so you do not need to use it.
- You can access MyShift through the Link App or directly through the in-game controls
- MyShift is available for all users on any device. You do not necessarily need a single-cog trainer to use MyShift
Virtual Shifting: Explained
Virtual Shifting allows you to simulate gear changes without physically shifting gears in real life. In other words, your trainer will automatically adjust the resistance when you shift gears virtually without the need to manually switch gears on your bike.
How Does MyShift Work?
You can use MyShift in one of two ways:
- You can change gears virtually through the Link App.
- In the link app, click the circle icon on the top right-hand side of the home screen to open the MyShift controls. Here, you can tap the left and right arrows to switch gears through MyShift.
- You can change gears virtually through the in-game controls.
- If you are using a touchscreen device, tap the left or right arrows to switch gears.
- If you are using a keyboard, use the shortcuts I and K to switch gears.
How Do I Adjust My Gears Using MyShift?
- During a ride on MyWhoosh, you can see your virtual gear on the bottom right-hand side of the screen. This gear will be set to 15 by default whenever you start a ride.
- There are 30 virtual gears to choose from in MyShift. This includes a wide range of gears from the biggest sprint gears, all the way to small climbing gears that you can use for the steepest of gradients.
MyShift is compatible with all single-cog trainers, which are trainers that come with only one gear. These innovative trainers were designed for virtual shifting, and now you can use their full functionality on MyWhoosh.
