Humans of MyWhoosh: Peter Milostic and Lindon Milostic

Peter Milostic, 50, is a former contintental road racing cyclist from Australia with 37 national titles, whose life has been shaped around the rhythm of the spinning wheels. He has been racing for 35 years, a journey that saw him competing in the 1992 Junior MTB World Championships. Today, his son Lindon Milostic, at just 17, is already making waves in the cycling community. Lindon started racing MyWhoosh’s premium racing event, Sunday Race Club, in Category 3 and today, he has progressed his way up to Category 1 through his impressive performances. But his story does not start here – it begins much earlier, with a three-year-old Lindon learning to ride his bike, guided by his father Peter.

“When Lindon was six months old, I’d tow him behind my bike on a local pathway. I’d give him fruit bars to keep him entertained. Now, he’s racing in Category 1 among professional cyclists and Olympic medalists. I am incredibly proud of his growth.”

Recently, the tables turned when Lindon introduced his father, Peter, to the world of indoor cycling through MyWhoosh. Peter, who still rides his 35-year-old handmade ergometer indoors, found himself navigating the new field of indoor cycling with his son’s guidance and races in Category 2 in SRC. “It’s like life has come a full circle,” Peter reflects. “I taught him to ride outdoors, and now he’s teaching me how to do it indoors. If it wasn’t for Lindon, I probably wouldn’t have started racing online.”

For both Peter and Lindon, MyWhoosh is not just a platform to race; it’s a way to connect with each other. “The best part about MyWhoosh is the racing environment it provides. Being able to race with my father along with other top talents from around the world, all from the comfort of home, must be my favorite part. Dad and I look forward to Sundays for the SRC races.” says Lindon.

Although Peter and Lindon share the same feeling about racing on MyWhoosh, they have their differences when it comes to what they enjoy the most on the platform. While Lindon loves all the challenging and life-like routes, Peter enjoys the endurance climb as it’s been great for improving his fitness level and break old habits that unlocked new found performance at an increasing age.

This father-son duo shares a competitive spirit, but also a deep camaraderie. Before Lindon qualified for Category 1, he raced in Category 2 alongside Peter. “We used to compare numbers and share strategies,” Lindon remembers. “It was competitive but also incredibly supportive.”

“With MyWhoosh, we also never have to deal with rain, traffic, or punctures,” Peter says with a huge smile on his face.

As they navigate their cycling journeys, both indoors and outdoors, Peter and Lindon remain a testament to the enduring bond between parent and child, united by their love for cycling. Their story is a reminder that, in the end, it’s not just about the races they win or the numbers they achieve, but about the moments they share and the paths they ride together.
