Everything You Need to Know About the All-New Sunday Race Club
By Zach Nehr
Sunday Race Club is to MyWhoosh what peanut butter is to jelly. You can’t say one without thinking of the other. SRC is the longest-standing racing series on MyWhoosh, and one of the biggest virtual racing series in the history of eSports cycling.
Tens of thousands of dollars in prize money are on offer every week, with equal payouts to the men and women. There once were four racing categories, but now there are six. This is just one of the many changes that MyWhoosh has brought to the Sunday Race Club in 2025.
In this article, we’re going to break down the updates to SRC, which include new categories, deeper prize payouts, flatter courses, and segment prizes.
New Categories: 5 and 6
One of the biggest changes to SRC is the addition of two new categories: 5 and 6. This opens the Sunday Race Club to a new group of riders, many of whom might be complete beginners, older riders, or those new to racing. This has been a long time coming, and it’s great to see opportunities for newer or less experienced riders who can challenge themselves on the same courses as the pros.
Deeper Prize Payouts
Another massive change to SRC is deeper prize pools. In the past, prize money went five deep for individuals, and five deep for teams in the monthly final. Now, prize money will go ten deep for individuals, and seven deep for teams in the final. This adds a whole new element to the racing as riders will fight for every position.
The prize money has also been redistributed among the new placings, so there is more available for the middle tier in all categories. Personally, I love this update because it rewards so many riders who show up and race SRC week in and week out. Some of us race at 2:00 am, while others race at 11:00 pm, and everything in between. Even if you miss a split on the first climb, there is still so much to fight for in SRC.
Segment Prizes
Not only is there a deeper prize pool but MyWhoosh has also added segment prizes. This rewards the fastest rider through Sprint and KOM/QOM segments along each route. There are prizes available for the winner of each segment, as well as the rider who has accumulated the most points across those segments in each SRC.
Personally, I love this update because it adds an entirely new element to the race. You don’t have to be in the front group to contest for the segment prizes. In fact, the winners of each sprint segment are more often riders who have been dropped than riders in the lead group. Riders can choose their own strategy and save their energy for the sprints if they’d like. Already, we’ve seen riders far behind the leaders take top honors in the SRC sprint segments.
When it comes to the KOM/QOM segments, you might think that the lead group would sweep up these prizes. But experienced riders know that if you slow down just before the segment starts, you can gain some “free time” near the bottom of the climb. If you finish within the lead group at the top of the climb, you could have a faster segment time because you started off the back. It is a risky strategy, but it is fascinating to see riders trying it on some of the toughest SRC courses.
New Courses and Equal Distances for Men and Women
Experienced SRC riders could describe each route to you like it’s in their backyard. For many months, SRC has rotated through a series of courses in all MyWhoosh worlds ranging from the mountainous Paso Alto to the hilly Wollongong routes.
In 2025, MyWhoosh is introducing a number of new courses to SRC including flatter courses and more hilly routes. This creates a more open feeling to SRC where anyone could win, and strategy is just as important as strength. I am excited to see the new courses because there are so many interesting routes in MyWhoosh. In fact, there are so many sprints and climbs that SRC has yet to touch. You can keep an eye out for the new SRC courses on the MyWhoosh website.
Men and women will now race equal distances in SRC, following the same route in every category. Previously, the women raced 35km routes while the men raced 45km routes. The men and women raced on identical routes at the 2024 UCI eSports World Championships, and now in SRC, they will do the same. Some routes will be even longer than before, pushing past 50km instead of 45km.
